Vermicelli Orchestra is an instrumental project of professional musicians founded by composer Sergey Schurakov. The band consists of Sergei Schurakov (accordion, composition), Natalia Marashova (mandolin), Julia Rytchagova (cello), Timur Bogatyrev (flute), Mikhail Ivanov (bass), Ilya Rozovski (guitar), Pavel Ivanov (drums) and Oleg Shar (percussion). Vermicelli Orchestra performs its own original music of the unique sound and structure. From the opening notes of “Brouillards,” it’s clear why Alexander Melnikov has chosen one of his own historic pianos for Debussy’s second volume of Préludes. His French Erard piano, from around 1885, possesses a chiming bass, a delicate yet resonant upper register, and a warm middle. It’s ideal for music that so often requires a fine brushstroke. Melnikov obliges, playing with exquisite restraint, control, and voicing as he whisks us to sun-drenched, humid India, the world of illustrator Arthur Rackham’s fairies and to a firework display, full of brilliant, nervous tension. Melnikov is joined by Olga Pashchenko for a thrilling performance of Debussy’s arrangement for four hands of his orchestral suite La Mer.

The music of 1920s Berlin was a reaction to the city’s conflicted political atmosphere. A new breed of composer emerged, eschewing the old and embracing a heady mix of cabaret, 12-tone serialism, and New York jazz. With dramatist Bertolt Brecht as their muse, they wrote startlingly original, often beautiful, music with bold, anarchic messages. The rich, seductive voice of Marion Rampal and her incredible group of musicians give vibrant life to the best, from Hanns Eisler’s defiantly anti-Fascist Nein and Kurt Weill’s tribute to Rosa Luxemburg, Ballad of the Drowned Girl, to Hindemith’s riotous demolition of an overture by Wagner, Hitler’s favourite composer.

Chicago went home to its namesake city last year to record a live version of the band’s multi-platinum second album, Chicago II. Recorded at the historic WTTW-TV studios, the performance features every song from that classic album, including several that haven’t been played live since the 1970s. The concert is airing now on select PBS stations as part of the network’s Soundstage series.

Gianfrancesco Malipiero (1882-1973), harboured particular affection for his Concerto No. 1 for Violin, that he “finished composing” on 10th March 1932. Malipiero considered his solo concertos composed in the fertile years “prayers.” (We refer not only to the Concerto for Cello but also to the felicitous Concerto No. 1 for Violin composed in 1933, to the first two Concertos for Piano, respectively written in 1934 and 1937 and to the Concerto a tre – for violin, cello and piano – composed in 1938.)

The 10-track effort follows 2015’s How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful. It was penned by band leader Florence Welch, as well as self-produced alongside past collaborator Emile Haynie (Bruno Mars, Lana Del Rey). In the studio, Welch & co. were also joined by a list of prominent guests, including: Jamie xx, Sampha, Tobias Jesso Jr., and Kamasi Washington.

Niu Niu is the nickname of Chinese pianist Zhang Shengliang, a prodigy who began studying music at age 3. He made his first public appearance at 6, playing a Mozart sonata and a Chopin etude. After moving to Shanghai at 8, he was invited to attend the Shanghai Conservatory, where he became the youngest student ever enrolled there. While his first teacher was his father, Niu Niu became a student of Hung-Kuan Chen at the New England Conservatory in Boston. In 2006, he made a significant career move by performing at Wigmore Hall, and the following year he played Shostakovich's Piano Concerto No. 1 in London, under the direction of Leslie Howard. In 2007, at age 9, he signed a contract with EMI, and recorded his debut album, Niu Niu plays Mozart, which was released in 2008. After touring China and Japan, Niu Niu released a recording of Chopin's etudes, and in 2010, he won the Prix Montblanc for most talented young artist. In 2012, he recorded an album of Liszt transcriptions for EMI.

Scorpion is the fifth studio album by Canadian rapper Drake. It was released on June 29, 2018 by OVO Sound, Young Money Entertainment, Cash Money Records and Republic Records. Scorpion is a double album consisting of 25 tracks. Its "A side" is primarily a hip hop album, whilst its "B side" has been described as R&B and pop.

The Now Now is the upcoming sixth studio album by British virtual band Gorillaz. The album will be released on 29 June 2018 via Parlophone and Warner Bros. Records. Recording began during the North American leg of the Humanz Tour in 2017, with fewer collaborators than usual. According to Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn, the album was recorded quickly so that the band would have more material to play at future concerts. The album was first teased through a series of posters found at All Points East Festival, and was officially announced two days later. The posters contained phrases and a link to a website, which displayed a short teaser containing a snippet of a new song and the release date. Damon Albarn has described the album as "pretty much just me singing" and "very sort of in the world of 2-D".

R&B superstar Ne-Yo owes his longevity to taking risks and trying out new ideas. He embraced four-on-the-floor dance beats on “Closer” and scored international EDM-inspired hits with Pitbull (“Give Me Everything”) and Calvin Harris (“Let’s Go”).
