Swedish heavy rockers The Quill parted ways with vocalist Magnus Ekwall following the release of their 2006 album, In Triumph, via SPV/Steamhammer, and it would be a full half-decade before their next outing arrived. That record, 2011’s Full Circle (discussed here), was released by Metalville Records and something of a reboot for the band, and saw founding drummer Jolle Atlagic and guitarist Christian Carlsson bring in bassist Hot Señor Rob and vocalist Magz Arnar to round out the four-piece.

Philadelphia’s resident spaced-out psych rockers Ruby the Hatchet have emerged from parts unknown, new LP in hand. Planetary Space Child lives up to its name—this is fuzzy, retro-sounding psychedelic rock. Led by frontwoman Jillian Taylor, it’s easy to imagine Planetary Space Child playing in a smoke-filled room as the album goes from quiet psychedelia to raucous, foot-stomping rock ‘n’ roll.

"Stand Your Ground", the long-awaited new studio album from U.S. power metal act JACK STARR'S BURNING STARR, will be released on August 25 via High Roller Records. The effort, which is almost 80 minutes long, was produced by Bart Gabriel (with whom the band already worked on the previous album, "Land Of The Dead"), recorded and mixed by Kevin Burnes (DOKKEN, RAVEN), and mastered by Patrick W. Engel at Temple Of Disharmony Studio. The release will be available as CD, double LP, and digital download. Like in case of previous two BURNING STARR albums, its cover artwork was painted by Ken — legendary artist known from his iconic works for bands such as RAINBOW, KISS and MANOWAR.

Hirsh Gardner releases his sophomore solo effort entitled "My Brain Needs a Holiday". This 10 song disc is the long awaited follow up to Gardner's acclaimed solo album "Wasteland for Broken Hearts": which is included in this package as a bonus disc.
