The Swedish ensemble Den Fule (The Ugly One) has since long time a reputation as one of the most exciting folk music groups in Scandinavia. Den Fule, like no other band, combines traditional Nordic folk music with influences from jazz, rock and world music, creating a unique brew of irresistible power and joyful playing. During the 1990s the group toured extensively throughout Sweden and Europe, achieving great success. Den Fule recieved a Swedish Grammy for their first album Lugumleik in 1993. Claire Kuo (born Kuo Po-yu on August 5, 1980) is a Taiwanese singer and television host. The daughter of a restaurant owner, Kuo graduated from Shih Hsin University and was a competitive cheerleader. After performing soundtracks for a number of Taiwanese television series, she released her debut album I Don't Want to Forget You in 2007, which garnered her numerous awards including Best Newcomer.

A master of the kora (21-string West African harp), Toumani Diabaté has brought the traditional music of his native Mali to the attention of an international audience with a series of well-received solo albums and some unlikely, but acclaimed, collaborations. Although he came from a family of musicians, Diabaté (born August 10, 1965) taught himself to play the kora at an early age, as his father, who also played the instrument, was often away touring. He developed a style of playing that, while being strongly rooted in the Malian tradition, is also open to a wide range of other influences, such as jazz and flamenco. He has subsequently sought out other musicians from around the world who are willing to experiment with him, even performing a concert in Amsterdam with a classical harpist.

This recording presents–almost–Berlioz's original thoughts on this very complicated opera (which went through more than a dozen versions, with additions and subtractions, in the composer's lifetime), although conductor John Nelson also adds an aria or two Berlioz later added, making it somewhat different from the version recorded by Philips under Sir Colin Davis a little over 30 years ago.

Sabine Meyer is one of the world's most renowned instrumental soloists. Her career has taken her from the orchestra pit as a member of both the Bavarian Radio Symphony and the Berlin Philharmonic to the height of solo stardom. It is partly due to her that the clarinet as a solo instrument recaptured the attention of the concert platform.

This came as a side project from Belgian avant-gardism group UNIVERS ZERO. As guitarist Roger Trigaux left that band, he got help from drummer Daniel Denis, A-M Polaris on vocals and Rochette on bass. Their music is incredibly somber (sinister is also appropriate) as it was on U Z but here the music is electrified, more energetic and more constructed, as there is "normal song construction" if that ever meant anything to those musicians…
