This Mortal Coil is the fifth studio release of the progressive metal band Redemption. The album was officially released on October 11, 2011. The inspiration for the album came from guitarist/keyboardist Nick Van Dyk being diagnosed with cancer and told he had 3–5 years to live, only to later have that diagnosis overturned and be declared cancer-free. The album comes in both a single-disc standard edition and a two-disc deluxe edition, with the latter including a bonus disc of cover songs billed as "A Collection Of Songs Originally Recorded By Other Artists That One Would Not Expect Would Be Performed By A Progressive Metal Band, Part the First".

Phil Upchurch (born July 19, 1941, Chicago, Illinois) is an American blues, jazz and R&B guitarist and bassist. Upchurch started his career working with the Kool Gents, the Dells, and the Spaniels before going on to work with Curtis Mayfield, Otis Rush, and Jimmy Reed. (His association with Kool Gents member Dee Clark would continue, including playing guitar on Clark's 1961 solo hit "Raindrops".) He then returned to Chicago to play and record with Woody Herman, Stan Getz, Groove Holmes, B.B. King, and Dizzy Gillespie.

The Toccata Classics survey of the music of the Hungarian composer Ferenc Farkas (19052000) continues with this fifth album of his orchestral music. Earlier releases have presented the lighter side of his music, with its quasi-Baroque textures and buoyant good humour, but this one shows Farkas working on a larger scale and in generally darker mood. Here he uses the full resources of the symphony orchestra in a number of powerful and dramatic works, including two movements from a symphony that he later withdrew and an orchestration of Liszts Funérailles. A lighter bonne bouche the Dances from the Mátra, rather like Kodálys Dances from Gálanta rounds things off.

At the time of this recording, New Zealand's Mike Nock was one of the great, unsung pianists in European stlyed jazz. His elegant phrasing and wildly inventive melodicism fly in the face of all notions that claim improvisation must be outside Western musical parameters and structures. On Ondas, Nock has assembled a rhythm section that, while never having played together before shared the ability to create the bedrock, however flexible, for the artist's crystalline compositions and solos. Eddie Gomez was a wise choice for this session because of his experience with Bill Evans, who is an obvious influence on Nock's own composing — as is Keith Jarrett. His pizzicato flourishes and shifting timbres on "Forgotten Love" and "Visionary," while retaining an elemental sense of meter, are remarkable.

Jürgen Seefelder ist ein deutscher Jazzmusiker (Tenor-, Alt- und Sopransaxophon, Flöte). Seefelder studierte nach dem Abitur von 1974 bis 1979 an der Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Graz. Anschließend unterrichtete er an Joe Haiders Jazzschule in München.
