Caroline Lavelle's trademark sultry voice occupies a greater range than she has used to date, ranging from the intimately delicate to a powerful folk rock persona, with her emotional cello playing making up a formidable range of talents across the trio.

Cobalt Chapel was formed in late 2014 by London based vocalist and actress Cecilia Fage (Matt Berry & The Maypoles) and Sheffield based musician Jarrod Gosling (I Monster and Regal Worm). Following the recording of their debut album they were asked by Andy Votel to play their first show at this year's Festival No 6. The sounds and textures on this debut are captivating and atmospheric, conjured up from vintage organs and effects, vintage drums and drum machines, fused together with Cecilia's distinctive English lead and layered vocals. The album explores imagined scenarios, finding inspiration in folklore, 1960's and 70's science fiction and horror ('Black Eyes' tells the story from the point of view of a 'Stepford wife' in the original film) as well as personal experience.

Jonathan Swensen was born in 1996 in Copenhagen and Filip Strauch was born in 1985 in Slovakia. They met for the first time at the Royal Academy of Music in Copenhagen in 2014. Filip and Jonathan have performed many recitals in several countries around the world and have made two professional video recordings for Danish television. The association between Norwegian Drummer Paal Nilssen-Love and Chicago saxophonist Ken Vandermark has seemingly been one of continuously paring down boundaries and borders. As members of the band School Days, the two musicians have met up with equal parts Chicago and Norway in quartet/quintet settings to make the records Crossing Division (2000) and In Our Times (2002). Later Vandermark and Nilssen-Love formed the trio FME (2002) with bassist Nate McBride. Each cropping away of players took away more form and structured music.

The music on this CD is mostly standards along with four Jackson bluish originals and a song apiece from Clayton and Walton. Milt Jackson's style has not changed since the 1950s but he has retained his enthusiasm and creativity and remained a potent force in jazz.
