Norwegian symphonic black metal giants, DIMMU BORGIR, finally emerge from the depths of darkness, to mark 2017 as the year of their monumental return. On April 28th, they will finally release their highly-anticipated DVD »Forces Of The Northern Night«, containing two of the band's live rituals: Their legendary show in Oslo, showing DIMMU BORGIR on stage with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra and a bombastic choir, as well as the entire performance at Wacken Open Air 2012 with almost 100 musicians on stage. Both concerts present a spectacular sound scenario of raging black metal in front of an epic orchestral landscape and the band's unique visuals.

This album features the artistry of one if Japan's top pianist's. When asked about the title of this album, Tsuyoshi Yamamoto had this to say: "I wrote this piece especially for this album and dedicated it to Winston Ma, the producer. I asked Winston to name the song. After hearing the song, Winston said he was reminded of the emotions he felt when he first saw the skyline of Seattle during an Autumn visit to the city some years go." Hence the name. Extremely celebrated ambient techno pioneer Wolfgang Voigt has announced his first album in 17 years under his GAS project. "Narkopop" is the German musician's fifth album and first since 2000's "Pop". Last year, GAS reissued all of his previous albums under critical acclaim. Narkopop’s artwork is also based on Voigt’s photos of the same forest. Voigt has shared a teaser for the album which is due on April 21st via his own label Kompakt.

The iconic Cincinnati band The Afghan Whigs have announced a new album. "In Spades" is the groups first album since 2014's "Do to the Beast", which was released after their reunion in 2012. The album was written and produced by frontman Greg Dulli. "Demon in Profile" is the lead single from the album. "In Spades" is out on May 5th via Sub Pop.

The Bay Area band Oxbow have been putting out noisy, experimental rock music and putting on intense and confrontational live shows since 1989; frontman Eugene Robinson probably still holds the informal “toughest man in underground rock” championship. But it’s been a solid decade now since the band put out their last album, 2007’s The Narcotic Story. So it’s very cool to learn that Oxbow will return this spring with a new LP called Thin Black Duke. Just like Oxbow’s other records, this one promises to be equally influenced by classical music and mash-your-face hardcore.
