Grey Czar is a four-piece band from Salzburg Austria. A rocking beast of a band featuring guitars, bass, keys, drums and layered vocals from three voices. In their home (Austria) they are known for their powerful live performances and they shared the stage with acts like: Bilderbuch, Blood Red Shoes, Band Of Skulls, Primordial, Spirit Caravan, Daishi, and many more.

This is a nice date of solid jazz nuggets, a tango, and a few originals played by a killer group of veterans: an excellent trio that includes Eddie Gуmez, Billy Drummond, and Japanese piano virtuoso and composer Yutaka Kobayashi. Guitarist Al di Meola appears on two tracks as well. The three originals by Kobayashi are beautifully subtle yet with a richly textured and harmonically compelling palette, particularly "Sundry Waltz No. 9," which builds from a very skeletal piano figure into a full-blown swinging keyboard walker – Drummond's brushwork is gorgeous as well. The reading of Wayne Shorter's "Nefertiti" is very rich and deep, with Gуmez's bassline reaching right into the heart of the mode for a near duplicate melody line. Chick Corea's "Captain Marvel" comes across as a shock due to di Meola's electric guitar sting.

Steve Reich's Drumming, inspired by musical studies in Ghana and on the Indonesian island of Bali, was composed in 1970 and 1971 and has remained one of the touchstones of minimalism's first wave. The work merged polyrhythms and the rhythmic cycle idea with the phase shifting of Reich's early works, painting the whole thing onto a large canvas with four interlocking sections of indeterminate length.

Tim Buckley possessed a golden voice that spanned the range from baritone to tenor. More importantly, he knew what to do with it. Sometimes he used it simply as a vehicle to carry the lyrics. Other times he used it as an extraordinary musical instrument in its own right. This box contains three live albums on four CDs from Buckley’s classic phase: “Dream Letter – Live in London 1968” (on two CDs), “Live At The Troubadour 1969” and “Honeyman – Recorded Live 1973”. These performances feature eight songs that were never otherwise recorded, alongside selections from Goodbye And Hello, Happy Sad, Blue Afternoon, Lorca, Greetings From LA and Sefronia.

CelLocomotion, a solo cello album created in 2018, is a journey through centuries of music from the past up to the present. Works from the album range from composers Domenico Gabrielli to recently composed works by the artist himself, Khari Joyner. Featured in this trailer are two excerpts from "PetrolMusic" (2017) and Évanescent Éclairs (2018), both blending elements of music from the past with musical styles of today.

Séga is the traditional music of Mauritius (a small island off the coast of Madagascar) and is known as the “blues” of the Indian Ocean. The music was born during the 17th to 19th centuries by African slaves seeking relief from harsh conditions in sugar cane fields and on colonial land by dancing to improvised music incorporating rhythms from their homelands in West Africa, Mozambique, Zanzibar or Madagascar. From these diverse African influences sprang a new, insular dance and music, the séga.

Many of Bernstein's best-loved works drew inspiration from the city of New York, and this is true both of the three sailors pursuing female conquest in the ballet Fancy Free, and of the rip-roaring swing rhythm and big tunes from the musical Wonderful Town. Bernstein celebrated his friends and family with his Anniversaries - piano vignettes heard here for the first time in colourfully expanded orchestrations. DJs like Gilles Petersen have been hip to the seven-piece wonder band Demon Fuzz for years, and as of the 21st century - now that everybody's put away their James Brown records for sampling - other club jocks are getting into the act of sampling this incredibly rare LP. Afreaka! was the only release by Demon Fuzz. Released in 1970, Afreaka! is a wild mash of Afro-Latin funk, breakbeats, tripped-out soul, jazz fusion, and psychedelic journeying. These seven black musicians took on everything that was happening, and were musicians enough to make it work for them. Most tracks run in the eight- and nine-minute range and get down with tough drums at the core, with rhythmic shifts happening on a grooved dime…

This recording brings together music from some of Leonard Bernstein's best-loved scores with seldom heard occasional works and premiere recordings. From the iconic musical West Side Story, the hot-blooded dance number Mambo embodies the show's dramatic tensions. Slava! celebrates Bernstein's friend and colleague, the cellist and conductor Mstislav Rostropovich, in music reworked from the daring show 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, from which the Suite rescues further highlights. CBS Music has not been heard since the broadcasting giant's 50th birthday celebrations in 1978, while the Birthday Bouquet takes the for of affectionate musical tributes from eight composer colleagues to one of the 20th century's greatest musicians. Primal Scream are to release the original ‘Memphis Recordings’ that eventually became their 1994 album Give Out But Don’t Give Up. Give Out But Don’t Give Up: The Original Memphis Recordings is a document of the sessions with Tom Dowd and the Muscle Shoals rhythm section (David Hood (bass) and Roger Hawkins (drums)). These took place at Ardent Studios in Memphis and these sessions are said to showcase a more ‘country soul/rock ‘n’ roll’ side to the band. These recordings were apparently found in Andrew Innes’ basement.

Erich Wolfgang Korngold was at the height of his fame and technical mastery by the time he began work on his fourth opera in 1923. Prominent opera houses clamored to stage his works, and the Viennese premiere of Das Wunder der Heliane (‘The Miracle of Heliane’) featured Lotte Lehmann among its star cast. Its story is one of the redemptive power of love over injustice and adversity, expressed in music that is richly impressionistic and intensely dramatic. Korngold was criticized for resisting the tide of modernist atonality in this opulent score, but its symbolism and compelling romantic atmosphere can be appreciated today more than ever. This Freiburg Opera production has a strong cast topped by soprano Annemarie Kremer, one of the most successful singers in the lyric dramatic soprano repertoire. Award-winning baritone Aris Argiris has established an international career, performing regularly at the world’s most prestigious opera houses.

Pulitzer Prize-winner and MacArthur fellow John Harbison has composed a Requiem for our times- a moving choral work that incorporates the composer’s distinctive sensibilities while drawing deeply on the tradition of Latin sacred music. Completed in the wake of the 9/11 attacks, Harbison’s Requiem is full of dramatic passages from singers and musicians alike, with abundant opportunities for vocal soloists, brass and percussion to shine. “I wanted my piece to have a sense of the inexorability of the passage of time,” the composer says, “for good and ill, of the commonality of love and loss.” Giancarlo Guerrero is the six-time Grammy-winning music director of the Nashville Symphony, music director of the Wroclaw Philharmonic in Poland, and principal guest conductor of the Gulbenkian Orchestra in Lisbon, Portugal. A passionate proponent of new music, he has championed a number of America’s most respected composers through recordings, commissions, and eight world premieres with the Nashville Symphony, including the Grammy-winning recording of Michael Daugherty’s Tales of Hemingway.
