South African award-winning composer/producer/guitarist/keyboard player, born April 17th, 1973 in Tembisa, near Johannesburg. Having studied piano at the Federated Union of Black Arts Academy, he graduated in 1987 with a diploma and best student award, then went on to play alongside Miriam Makeba, Jonas Gwangwa, Hugh Masekela and toured the USA with Dorothy Masuka and Julian Bahula. He founded two bands (Brotherhood and Umbongo) before releasing his first solo effort, "Finding Oneself", in 1995 before gradually branching into production work for young kwaito artists.

The final recordings by one of metal’s most original and emotional voices: WARREL DANE (SANCTUARY, NEVERMORE) On December 13th, 2017, Warrel Dane passed away in São Paulo while recording the follow-up to 2008’s “Praises To The War Machine”. “Shadow Work” was supposed to be an 80 minutes long opus and while all instruments had been recorded, Warrel passed away before completing all vocal tracks. In essence, a tribute release, “Shadow Work” contains 41 minutes of music with Warrel’s vocals tracked during pre-production and the actual recording sessions. The album’s booklet was completed with Travis Smith providing artwork based upon concepts he had previously discussed with Warrel as well as thorough reconstructions of all lyrics from Warrel’s notebook, testimonies by his Brazilian band, and several photos. Musically, it offers heavy and technical metal tracks (‘Madame Satan’, ‘Disconnection System’), the anthemic ‘As Fast As The Others’, a moving ballad called ‘Rain’, and the 9 minutes grand finale ‘Mother Is The Word For God’.

Ornette Coleman's 1965 trio with bassist David Izenzon and drummer Charles Moffett is easily the most underrated of all his bands. Coming off the light of the famed quartet in which Don Cherry, Eddie Blackwell, and Charlie Haden shone, anything might have looked a bit dimmer, it's true. But this band certainly had no apologies to make. Coleman was deep into creating a new approach to melody, since Haden and Cherry had honed his harmonic sensibilities.

Largely missing are the bits of pop-metal fluff that filled out Skid Row; in their place are tales from the dark side about drugs, corruption, and the like, with Bach affecting a tough, threatening persona most of the time…
