His childhood friend and one-time bandmate Prince once described André Cymone "heaven sent". Having grown up together and lived together, Cymone played bass for Prince's backing band in the days before it was called The Revolution. By 1981, relations between Prince and Cymone had broken down and he went solo, signing with Columbia Records and launching a career as a New Wave/Funk artist. Originally released in 1985, A.C. was André Cymone's third solo album. It contains his biggest hit, the #10 R&B single The Dance Electric, written and produced by Prince, who had offered Cymone the track when the two met in a nightclub. Fans of both André Cymone and Prince have been campaigning for decades to have A.C. released on CD.
