This is French opera at his best, before this authentic style was gone: beautiful silver tones from a now lost period. I bought this record more than 40 years ago and it is still unpassed.

Think Tank is a band made by 5 musicians, all from Bari, born in 2015. Ranging from the 70s suggestions (Genesis, Rush, King Crimson, Yes, etc.) to the most modern and post-progressive Steven Wilson and Porcupine Tree atmospheres, Think Tank begin the composition and production of the songs that give shape to the first self-titled and self-produced EP, out in all digital stores on May 11th, 2017.

Two For Duke is a incredibly organic take on eleven Ellington classics as Ionata and Moroni do their own riff on these timeless classics with Ionata's warm rich tone breathing new lyrical life into what could be a musical land mine for some performers of far lesser talent. Moroni's warm and at times blues infused harmonic development is a spot on match for this release. Literally a perfect partnership.

This recording has never received the respect it has deserved. The sound has been cleaned up and it is a Culshaw production with the VPO. It is fairly early in Karajan's career so the mannerisms that people fault him for are not so much in evidence. Del Monico is in great voice. This role needs an Italianate voice which is why I have never warmed to Domingo performances of the role. A great deal.
